WATER IN PLACE OF MACHINE OIL FOR LUBRICATION MECHANISMS

The use of polymeric composite materials in creation of antifriction units of various mechanisms using water as a lubricant, instead of metal bearings lubricated with engine oils, from an environmental point of view, is most justified.

Existing carbon plastics based on epoxy and phenolic binders have proven themselves as antifriction material in production of various bearings. However, they have high rates of water absorption and a sufficiently low operating temperature (up to 140 °C).

The development and application of oligocyanurate binders, which characterized by lower water absorption and high thermal stability (250°C and higher), will allow the creation of antifriction materials with better performance, adapted to use in aggregates subjected to more aggressive factors.
